Maja Bill Biography Learning from her own mother, this Swiss mother and grandmother has been making dolls since she was a child. Maja is quoted in the July 2011 Dolls Magazine article entitled “Love made Visual” by Sharon Verbeten as saying “To form a creature out of a clod of nothing and to awake it to life – this always-new miracle is what keeps me so attracted up to this day.” As a kindergarten teacher she created dolls for both herself and her students and then for her own children in textile, leather and Paperclay. Now crafting dolls in porcelain and vinyl she paints and clothes all the dolls so each is a one of a kind creation. Taking inspiration from her grandchildren’s faces, photos and paintings, she is a recent award winner. Her dolls usually range in size from 19” to 36”.
